Paddy

Hi there! My name is Paddy, but my foster mom should have named me Tony the Tiger as I have a beautiful brindle coat that looks like a tiger's. I am a big boy....just look at my paws and imagine just how big I will be when I grow into them! The vet estimates me to be between 4 and 5 months old, which my foster mom thinks it is crazy....Why? Because I am calm, approx 60 pounds and already house trained and crate trained. I sit on command and walk well on leash. She thinks I am the Benjamin Button of puppy dogs. Then she is reminded that I am still a puppy because I can get mouthy and love to chew....which with young pups, is very common which is why we need constant supervision.

I am being fostered with 4 other dogs....both big and small and get along with them great. I don't know about cats as I haven't been tested with them. I love my human foster sister, who is 12 years old and loves to lay on the floor with me to give me the belly rubs I crave. Because of my size, I should be supervised around young children just because I love to lean into my humans to get love and I could topple a toddler right on over!

My foster mom thinks I am pretty darn special, and everyone that meets me agrees. Because I am going to be a big boy, she wants to make sure that my forever family commits to continuing to train me with obedience lessons as dogs aren't perfectly mannered without some guidance, structure and boundaries (just like human kids). I am still growing and will likely be over 100 pounds when I am fully grown, so my humans will need to be aware of that when planning their future with me....as I am not disposable. When adopted, I will be part of your family and not disposable just because I get big. Too many times my foster mom has seen where adopters aren't truly committed....so be prepared for some hard questions from her....as I am special and she wants me to have a very, very good life!

Paddy has an approximate DOB of Jan 2018. At 4 1/2 months old, he weighs 60 pounds, so we anticipate he will be over 100 pounds fully grown. He is guesstimated as a Plott Hound/Mastiff mix, and he is neutered, microchipped and up to date on age appropriate vaccinations.

AS WITH ALL YOUNG PUPS, this puppy will need constant supervision when not crated. Puppies will chew and get into trouble as any puppy would. A puppy needs a leader and someone to teach the basics of house training, obedience, and behavior. At the ages of 10-16 weeks, puppies tend to tire easily and take lots of naps. As they get older, they will need more exercise (walks, hikes, playing fetch, etc.) to expend their energy and to be happy and healthy.
