Volunteer Opportunities

Foster Home

Open your home to a lucky dog and ensure its care and well-being. Assume responsibility for leash, crate, potty and other basic training (needs dependent by dog). Help with assessing the dog’s temperament, such as how he/she gets along with cats or other dogs, or identifying any behavior concerns. Provide basic care of the dog in terms of food, water, and most importantly – love! Any and all necessary and pre-approved vetting will be covered by YLDR.

Transport

Transport dogs from shelters to foster homes or veterinary clinics, between foster homes and veterinary clinics, and from foster homes to adoptions in the event that a foster parent cannot.

Home Visit Team

Conduct home visits with potential adopters to help ensure that all application questions were answered honestly and that the home meets all YLDR standards.

Fundraising

Lead and/or participate in fundraising efforts for YLDR.

Event Planning

Assist in planning events for YLDR. Possible duties could include:
– location selection
– fundraising
– marketing
– procuring donations
– organizing permits
– planning activities
– organizing schedule of events

Event Volunteer

Assist during events for YLDR. Possible duties could include:
– handling a dog at adoption events
– championing dogs for adoption (knowing the dog’s story, speaking with people about the dog)
– assisting with event set up and breakdown
– sharing events with friends and networks
– merchandise sales and special event functions
