Rye

Hey everybody! My name is Rye. I have a kind of sad story so I’m going to share it with you in hopes you might want to meet me! My name used to be Chance, by people that owned me and taught me things. I loved them. But, then for some reason they took me to a high kill shelter and left me there. With my nametag on my collar and all. I don’t know what I did wrong to have them do that to me. It was pretty scary there and I almost didn’t make it out at all. But the people at You Lucky Dog Rescue took a “chance” that I might be a good dog – and boy, are they right!! They are so thrilled they saved me on my last day.

So, now that I have landed in a foster home, things are looking up and I’m really happy to be alive! I know most people out there are looking for a gorgeous dog, like a Golden Ret or a Poodle. I am certainly not that, but I have more personality and soul than most dogs you’ll ever meet. I am a big boy but everyone that meets me calls me a “gentle giant”. I am 70 pounds. I may look like a plain brown dog to you, but my foster mom tells me all the time that I am not plain, I am very special. They say I am a German Shep/Lab mix, maybe some Boxer in there also.

I know lots of things – I know to sit, shake, down, and even roll over (most of the time). You see, the thing I love most in the world is belly rubs! I love to flip over on my back and just wiggle around with a big goofy smile on my face and my tail just a wagging. I do enjoy toys and chase the ball on occasion. I try so hard to be a good dog and am not rambunctious at all. Even when I run around the yard and play chase with the other dogs, they are always faster than me and I can’t keep up. My foster mom says I’m pretty close to perfect so that makes me happy!

I am 3-4 years old according to the vet and I still have so much life to live and so much love to give. I’m the kind of dog that would make the most loyal family member and the best of friends. I do enjoy other dogs very much. I have learned all about how my crate is my “house” and I go in there when I am supposed to and never have an accident in there. Speaking of that, I have never had an accident of any sort in my foster home. I also don’t chew things up. I like to go on leash walks and am good on a leash. I am very smart (I mean how many other dogs do you know that can write their own bio) and listen to everything you say because I just want to please you. I was only in my foster home about 5 days and I had the entire routine down pat already. I adjust and adapt and learn super fast.

Note from foster mom: Rye/Chance is super special. Only applicants that plan to make him a member of their family and an indoor dog need apply. This is not a dog that will live outside all of the time and left unattended. He also should not go into apartment living because of his size. He is soulful and somebody out there deserves this great boy and he deserves the best home EVER!!

Rye is thought to be a German Shepherd/Lab mix, weighs 70 pounds and has an estimated DOB 12/2015. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.
