KELSIE~

*House Trained.
*Crate Trained.
*I'm working on my leash manners like any good puppy should.
*Not recommended for a home with young children due to herding tendencies.
*Will do best with a dog that accepts her energy and doesn't mind herding.

KELSIE is still a young lass and wants a home that understands the world of puppies that are really good but still learning skills. She will only be placed in a loving home that is dedicated to work on house training, leash manners, and that will introduce her to a variety of safe activities and experiences so she can be comfortable in the world.

KELSIE is an adorable Australian Shepherd mix. She was dumped in South GA and lived on her own for the majority of her puppy life so she has a lot to learn. It is a sad story that will hopefully have a happy ending.

She is the sweetest pup, but has never really been taught much of anything. Because of her start in life, she is still shy and will sometimes cower, but is also a fun, wild puppy. As her foster mom, I wish I knew more of her past. I’ve seen lots of different foster dogs and personalities, but hers is completely unique. She is very true to her breed and tries to herd and nip for either control or maybe even just for the attention that she has never had.

KELSIE is very smart and EXTREMELY sweet. She is good with other dogs, but can be nippy because she wants to herd. She will need a home with either no other dogs or a very playful dog that won’t react to her nippiness and high energy. She loves to do her “zoomies” in the backyard and adores toys and chew bones.

Just like with any puppy her age, she will need to have a watchful eye as she definitely chews and steals shoes. She loves her crate and is quiet when put there. She also loves to just cuddle on the couch with her people.

We feed her in her crate because she gets very excited over food. She is extremely food motivated so with the right adopter she would be easy to train with treats.

She never has any accidents in her crate and has never used the bathroom in the house. She goes right outside and does her business when it is time. Kelsie does pretty well on leash, but we are still working with her to refine her skills in this area.

We believe her ideal adopter will be very active and enjoy training her and taking her on walks and maybe even hiking. This girl is one of those dogs that needs and wants a JOB! She would make a great frisbee dog. When she settles down, she loves to cuddle and just adores snuggling.

Kelsie will probably not be a good fit for a home with small children or other older calm dogs because of her energy level. The good thing about her is she will stay close to you, but should always be on a leash or in fenced yard. Ideally, she will need a fenced yard so she can do her “zoomies” and burn off some energy.

We believe KELSIE to be an Australian Shepherd mix. Her estimated DOB is 6/13/2019, and she weighs 28 pounds as of 6/16/20.

For more information on our adoption process, please visit our website at www.youluckydogrescue.org and read our Adoption FAQ's and Before You Adopt documents. You can complete an online adoption application from our website. You can also email info@youluckydogrescue.org for additional details that are not included in this biography.

PRIVATE MEET & GREETS: Submitting an adoption application is required before a private meet & greet will be scheduled. We will complete a pre-screening first to make sure that the dog you are interested in is a good fit for you. That way, we don't unnecessarily waste your time or the foster's time.

Our adoption fee is $300 and includes all age appropriate vaccines, spay or neuter and microchipping. All of our rescue dogs are heart worm tested annually beginning at 9 months of age, and they are kept on monthly heart worm and flea preventatives.

The breed and age included in this listing is based upon the opinion of a vet that has examined the dog. We cannot confirm the age of the dog unless the dog was born in the care of the rescue.

We are located in the metro Atlanta area. We currently do not allow out of state adoptions as a home check is required as part of the adoption process.
