Bones

IN NEED OF FOSTER OR ADOPTIVE HOME~
Strong in Spirit. Bones is the epitome of resiliency. He could teach a thing or two to humans about bouncing back from adversity. Abandoned at a high kill shelter, emaciated to the point were you could see every bone in his body, complicated with a crushed leg, he still was strong in spirit with a desire to live. While his leg couldn't be saved, he persevered through a leg amputation and then heartworm treatment, complicated by bouts of pneumonia. You just can't keep a good dog down.

Despite his rough beginnings to life, he is now fully healed and medically cleared. However, he hasn’t escaped fully unscathed: Bones can be a timid, anxious dude and will need a calm assertive pack leader to show that he doesn’t need to worry about thunder, fireworks, new people, etc. (YLDR will be happy to provide guidance for this). Bones’ anxiety has improved significantly in the couple of months with his foster family but he will always need a solid pack leader to continue that. He is also working on some separation anxiety and he would prefer a home where he is not left along for long hours at a time.

Bones is a very sweet dude. He’s goofy, wiggly, clumsy (still working out this whole missing leg thing… or he might just be a klutz), and he loves a good nyla bone, naps, and being near his person. Bones is a lazy thing; he’s looking for a person who’ll play for a bit and then chill on the couch and rub his belly. After all he has been through in his previous life and the dedication of the rescue to make sure to tend to his physical ailments, the one thing that he truly desires has continued to allude him, and that is finding that one person that will be devoted to him, to make sure that he never again is starved for food or attention, never again hurt physically or emotionally, never again to be in want of anything. That person, who will make that commitment, will have his total devotion for the rest of his days. Lucky is the person that will receive such devotion. Could it be you?

Bones is an American Staffordshire Terrier mix, perhaps with some American Bulldog, with an estimated DOB of 1/25/2016. He weighs about 50 pounds, and he has been microchipped, neutered and is up to date on vaccinations.
